Editor, Ceres Courier,

To my friends in Ceres, let me be the first to share in your excitement over the State Allocation Board's approval of funds to construct three new elementary schools in Ceres Unified School District. Superintendent Scott Siegel and the trustees of the Ceres Unified School District deserve our gratitude for their hard work and commitment to make this expansion a reality. Public education is the cornerstone of the American Dream and provides opportunity to those who need it most. Walt L. Hanline Elementary, Lucas Elementary, and Patricia Kay Beaver Elementary will be built to serve 1,800 new students. The facilities will allow enrollment to grow while continuing to provide a first-rate education to our kids. Most importantly, these schools will ensure the district can continue to fulfill its promise of being "Committed to Excellence and Responsive to Every Student." Additionally, new school construction is a critical part of job creation for our communities and I am pleased to see it go forward. Please join me in continuing the fight to get our fair share of the state's investment -- whether in infrastructure, important programs, or, in this case, education.

I am delighted to recognize the efforts of CUSD and look forward to its continued success for our students.
