Honored to be a candidate

Editor, Ceres Courier,

In response to Angelina Martin's January 17, 2018 article entitled, "Three competing for Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools/• Candidates' platforms include STEM, vocational training," I am honored to be a candidate for Superintendent of Stanislaus County.

Education is the most important investment we can make in our nation's future. I am pleased that the longest-serving County Superintendent in Stanislaus County's recent history, Martin Petersen, has endorsed me, as have more of the County's district superintendents than any other candidate.

Finally, as a former math teacher, I wholeheartedly support programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and in addition I am also an enthusiastic supporter of the Arts. I prefer the acronym "STEAM" to "STEM" as it better encapsulates the creativity needed to prepare our youth for the future. Full STEAM ahead!

Don Davis,
Superintendent,
Waterford School District
