Sober Grad Nite a success due to much generosity

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Myself and a small group of moms (just five others to be exact) planned a Sober Grad Night for the Ceres High Class of 2017. In keeping our community safe, we felt it very important to create an event where the graduating students could (for a small $50 fee) be safe and sober for the entire evening, as well as have a great time.

The evening was filled with inflatables - bucking bull, human foosball, eliminator, jousting, tug of war/first down... as well as smaller games like tic tac toe, bowling, ring toss. We served food all night long (hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, nachos, drinks, iced coffee, popcorn, sno cones) and at sunrise served breakfast burritos, pastries, orange juice, milk and hot coffee.

We also gave away over $1,200 worth of prizes - including two 32-inch flat screen TVs, a 10-inch tablet, and an HP laptop.

We were also able to secure hypnotist Suzy Haner (who performs for the Stanislaus County Fair).

Again, all of this supplied to the students for only $50 per person.

The Ceres High School Class of 2017 Sober Grad Committee would like to send a big thank you to Ceres Lions Club, Ceres Soroptomists, Ceres Firefighters Local 3636, Cost Less Foods, Diamond Bar Arena/Shane Parson, ER Vine, Pepsi, Prime Shine, Coca-Cola, Costco, (Turlock), SuperMom's, In N' Out, Winchester Mystery House for their extremely generous donations.

As well as Storer Bus, Suzy Haner, Bouncin Bins, Best Buy (Modesto) for being so generous with their pricing to allow us to have amazing entertainment and prizes.

Because we have such an amazing community that is always so generous when it comes to our youth, we were able to create a wonderful Sober Grad Night and keep our graduation students safe.

Kathi Foster,
Ceres
