DRUG ARRESTS: CERES - Two persons were arrested for drugs Wednesday afternoon after one of the suspects attempted to pass a bad check at the Money Mart on Hatch Road.

Officer Patrick Dayton responded in the 3:12 p.m. incident and caught up with Edward Ryno, 44, at the 99 Cents Only store. He was arrested and booked on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

Alison Wilson, 29, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

JAILED AFTER STORE INCIDENT: CERES - An attempt to steal from Cost Less Foods on Hatch Road landed a 15-year-old boy in Juvenile Hall and sent two of his friends to jail for threatening a store employee Wednesday afternoon.

At 4:15 p.m. police were called to the store for a boy who was caught stealing and who fled the store on foot. Sgt. Deidre Borges found the juvenile hiding at the nearby Radio Shack. He was arrested on burglary charges.

Two of the boy's friends, Juana Lopez-Osegura, 21, and Daisy Osegura, 19, were both arrested for making terrorist threats to the store personnel who called 911.

PASSED OUT DRUNK: CERES - A woman was arrested Saturday evening on charges of possession of heroin and being under the influence.

At 8:12 p.m. a person at Disco Azteca at Mitchell and Hatch called 911 about a woman who was passed out in a car. Officer Brinton Moore arrived and found Jael Serrano, 27. Moore smelled alcohol in the car and on the woman and had difficulty rousing her. Moore said the woman kept nodding off and that he suspected that she was under the influence of more than alcohol. A breathalyzer determined that her BAC was .09.

SUNDAY DUI ARRESTS MADE: CERES - Ceres police arrested at least three persons for driving while under the influence on Sunday.

Officer Joe Wren made a stop at 2:55 a.m. on a motorcycle that was being ridden erratically on Mitchell Road. He arrested its rider, James Comfort, 26, for DUI.

At 1:57 a.m. Officer Dan Fairchilds stopped a vehicle for swerving. The car pulled over into the Home Depot parking lot where Aristeo Chavez Martinez, 28, failed to pass a field sobriety test. He was booked on charges of DUI.

Later in the day, at 7:06 p.m., police received a call about a vehicle striking a parked car at 3808 Christy Lane, with the driver leaving the scene.

Officer Brian Peterson traced the car to Cara Van, 31, who lived nearby in the 2700 block of Christy Court. Van went home and told her mother that she had wrecked the car. Van's mother told her to return to the scene.

Witnesses put Cara behind the wheel. After the officer smelled alcohol on Van's breath he arrested her for DUI.

SHOOTING INVESTIGATED: CERES - Police are investigating a shooting that took place Sunday evening in the 2800 block of Glider Court, possibly as the result of an argument between persons in a car and a group on foot.

At least five spent .22-caliber bullet casings were found where a parked van had been struck. Police also found a baseball bat where the shooting took place.

Police are looking for the dark-colored Dodge van used in the 8:16 p.m. shooting.

Sgt. Rick Collins said that nobody was hit in the attack.
