Ceres Police arrested a 27-year-old Ceres man early Sunday after he led them on a short pursuit and after he ran across the freeway in a desperate attempt to elude capture.

Akim Jordan, 27, of Ceres, was eventually taken into custody and booked on multiple charges.

At 2:20 a.m. Ceres Police Officer Aaron Pinon spotted a Mercedes Benz being driven at Service and Mitchell roads with expired registration tags. When he attempted to pull over the driver, Jordan accelerated off and the pursuit was on. Jordan stopped at El Camino Avenue and Brickett Court and ran from his car while ignoring commands to stop. The suspect then ran across Highway 99 to the west side where officers awaited him. Jordan tried to outrun them but was seized.

Jordan was found in possession of a loaded un-serialized firearm.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading a peace officer recklessly in a vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm without a serial number and resisting arrest.
