Couple arrested in porch piracy

David Russell (left) and Renee Michelle McCullough were both arrested in connection with the theft of a package from a Ceres porch on Jan. 2.

Two Ceres residents were arrested Saturday evening for allegedly stealing an Amazon package off the front porch of a home and driving off.

The theft was reported at 5:48 p.m. with the suspects seen driving off in a white Ford Ranger pickup.

Community Service Officer (CSO) David McCann passed off the details to officers Jon Blount and Charles Rushing who found the suspects driving on El Camino Avenue near Service Road. Driver David Wilburn Russell and passenger Renee Michelle McCullough were both arrested and booked on charges of petty theft and conspiracy to commit a crime. Russell was also charged with violating the terms of his parole.

The stolen package was returned to its owner.
