CAR STOP ENDS IN ARREST OF WOMAN WANTED FOR EMBEZZLEMENT
A 32-year-old Modesto woman was arrested during an early Thursday morning car stop for her warrant relating to a prior embezzlement charge.
Ceres Police Officer Jostin Madsen was patrolling the area of Fifth and Lawrence streets at 12:16 a.m. when he stopped Savannah Pritchett for vehicle code violations as she drove a Pontiac Grand Am. Through a records check the officer learned of her felony warrant and booked her into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
MERCED MAN PULLED OVER, EARNS DUI CHARGE
Estevan Velazquez, 22, of Merced was arrested for drunken driving during a Wednesday morning, Aug. 19 car stop.
At 1:21 a.m., Officer Gary Singh was patrolling the 1600 block of Mitchell Road when he came across a Dodge Challenger whose driver was committing vehicle code violations. Officer Singh contacted Velazquez and immediately suspected him be under the influence of alcohol. After undergoing a DUI investigation, Velazquez was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples that were over double the legal limit. Velazquez was booked for DUI in the county jail.
CAR STOP YIELDS DRUGS, ARREST OF DRIVER
An early Saturday morning traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old Modesto man on drug possession charges.
At approximately 1:08 a.m., Officer Roger Khuon was patrolling the area of Service and Mitchell roads when he stopped Robert Smallwood for vehicle code violations in a Honda Civic. During a records check, the officer learned of Smallwood’s two felony arrest warrants which were narcotics related.
During a search of both Smallwood and the vehicle, Officer Khuon found a plastic baggy containing a white powdery substance, and another white crystalline substance suspected as being fentanyl and methamphetamine, respectively.
Smallwood was arrested on the warrants, and new charges of possession of a controlled substance with two or more priors. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
