Keyes man charged in attempted murder

Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department SWAT team members arrested Ricardo Suarez, 24, of Keyes, Friday morning on charges of attempted murder.

The arrest came after SWAT and members of the Sheriff's Special Team Investigating Narcotics and Gangs (STING) team surrounded the Suarez's home in the 4600 block of Lucinda Avenue of Keyes and served a search warrant at approximately 7 a.m.

Suarez is believed to be the man who shot another man on Aug. 12 in the 5300 block of Clark Street in Keyes. The victim was suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach and was treated for his wound at a local hospital.

Authorities identified Suarez as a suspect and believe the shooting is connected to gang activity.

Suarez was held at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on $500,000 bail.
