A funeral was held Friday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto for James Jaspar Wilson, 89, of Ceres. He died Monday, April 18, 2005 at his home.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born Nov. 6, 1915, Mr. Wilson was a native and lifelong resident of Ceres. He was an Army veteran, serving in 1942. Mr. Wilson was a member of the American Legion Post #491. He was a 37-year employee of S&W Fine Foods, working as a foreman in nut packaging. Mr. Wilson enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind his son, Steve Wilson of Ceres; his sister, Dorothy Black of Modesto; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Lorena Wilson, his parents, Henry and Virda Wilson, early-timers in Ceres; and two sisters, Darlene Sise and Elizabeth Atwell.
