Central Valley’s boys tennis team took care of business against Buhach Colony and showed improvement versus Patterson in Central California Conference play last week.

The Hawks dropped to 2-5 in the CCC standings after losing 7-2 to Patterson on Thursday in Ceres.

The Tigers won the first meeting, 9-0. “They’re just a better team,” Central Valley head coach Nimrat Chahal said.

Anantah Sivongxay exacted revenge while prevailing 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles play.

“He’s definitely playing better now,” Chahal said. “He’s hitting the ball with more confidence. His serve is night and day. He works hard in practice every day. He’s just a complete player.”

Darien Pongbandith and Leo Lagunas accounted for Central Valley’s other team point. They prevailed 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 in No. 3 doubles play.

Jaylan Tagadaya and Alexander Aguilar lost 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles play.

Isaiah Ramos and Leonardo Navarro lost 6-4, 6-3 in No. 2 doubles play.

Israel Guajardo lost 6-2, 7-5 in No. 2 singles play.

Dylan Chauhan lost 6-1, 6-4 in No. 3 singles play.

Jose Avila lost 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in No. 4 singles play.

Avori Oretga lost 6-2, 6-2 in No. 5 singles play.

Silas Rodriguez lost 6-0, 6-4 in No. 6 singles play.

Central Valley topped Buhach Colony 8-1 on March 19 in Ceres.

“It’s a match we should win,” Chahal said. 

Rodriguez and Tagadaya prevailed 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles play.

Ramos and Aguilar prevailed 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles play.

Navarro and Lagunas prevailed 6-3, 6-4 in No. 3 doubles play.

Sivongxay prevailed 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Guajardo prevailed 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles play.

Chauhan prevailed 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles play.

Avila lost 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 in No. 4 singles play.

Mendoza lost 6-3, 6-1 in No. 5 singles play.

Ortega lost 6-1, 6-3 in No. 6 singles play.

The fifth-place Hawks compiled a 2-4 record during the first half of the CCC season. “I’ve seen slow, gradual improvement,” Chahal said.
