Ceres Police arrested a 21-year-old Modesto man who crashed into another car while intoxicated on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 5 and drove off.
The collision occurred at 2:57 p.m. in the 1500 block of Bernice Drive and caused injuries to occupants of the victim’s car. The suspect, Alberto Lopez, 21, of Modesto, drove off in his gray-colored Honda Accord but was followed by a witness to the 1900 block of Herndon Road where he parked in the Lazy Wheels Mobile Home Park. Lopez walked away from the Honda prior to police arriving but was located a short time later. Witnesses identified Lopez as the hit-and-run driver.
Lopez appeared to be intoxicated and submitted to a breath test which showed his blood alcohol content was nearly four times the legal amount to drive a vehicle.
He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of hit-and-run causing injury and driving under the influence.
