A Modesto man was arrested Thursday morning when he attempted to peddle away from an officer who tried to pull him over at Richland Avenue.

At 9:31 a.m. Officer Eric Gallegos made a bike stop on Michael Alberts, 35, for failing to stop at the stop sign and a short chase ensued. Eventually the officer detained Alberts who was patted down and found with heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Alberts was arrested and booked for warrants, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a police officer and violation of probation.
