Ceres Police have arrested a 36-year-old Ceres man for sexually abusing an underage boy and possession of child pornography.

Detectives and officers served a search warrant Wednesday at the home of Jonathan Javier Silva Marquez. His arrest came after the 17-year-old victim reported to a Ceres Police School Resource Officer in December that he was being sexually assaulted by a family member. Ceres Police Investigators began investigating and learned that the sexual abuse has been occurring since before May 2020.

Detectives are sifting through the evidence collected during the search warrant. Marquez faces charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child, continuous sexual abuse of a child and possession of child pornography.

Police did not release any additional information to protect the investigation and urged anyone with information on the suspect or the case to contact Detective Julio Amador at (209) 538-5729.
