An employee of the Chevron store at 3000 E. Service Road was arrested after she was caught stealing money from the cash register and another is being sought for the same charge.

Officer Jessica Graham went to the store at 11:33 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 regarding reports that two employees were suspected of stealing nearly $2,000 between Jan. 16 and 23.

Officer Graham reviewed video footage and saw employees Emmalena Spencer, 20, of Salida and Nicole Dubreuil, 27, of Modesto taking large bills from the register and acting as if they were putting them in the safe but pocketing the money instead.

Dubreuil admitted to the theft and was arrested for felony grand theft, probation violation, and two active warrants. She was booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Spencer was not at the business and was issued an arrest warrant.
