In what Ceres Police termed an “isolated incident between students,” a 16-year-old Central Valley High School was arrested Friday for carrying a gun onto the campus.

School Recourse Officer (SRO) Lorenzo Beltran received information at 12:35 p.m. from school staff members about a possible impending gang fight involving a gun. Officer Beltran called several students into inquire about the report and learned of a photo making its rounds of a handgun that appeared to be taken inside a school restroom. Beltran was able to trace who had posted the picture on social media and who had the handgun.

Police found the suspect off campus where he was arrested. He was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of possession of a firearm without serial numbers, possession of a weapon at school, child cruelty, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public with special circumstances, and possession of a concealable firearm by a minor.
