Driver with arrest warrant provides police with false name

A 37-year-old Ceres man who was stopped by a Ceres Police officer for code violations on Wednesday evening, Sept. 13 was arrested after lying about his name because of a warrant for his arrest.

Tomas Ramirez, 37, of Ceres was wanted for a prior auto theft charge and possession of a controlled substance. Ramirez was driving a Ford F-150 pickup at 10:48 p.m., when he was pulled over by Officer Angelina Valenzuela in the area of Hatch Road and Richland Avenue. Ramirez continued giving the officer false names but when he was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center his true identity was revealed and he was booked on the warrant.
