Driver charged with DUI after running into wall

A 27-year-old Modesto driver was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 15 for drunken driving after he ran his pickup into the masonry wall along the canal south of Hatch Road near at Faith Home Road.

The crash was reported at 4:02 a.m. Officer Jeremy Caron arrived on scene and checked on the driver who was slumped over in the driver seat. Daniel Alcantara, who is on felony searchable probation, appeared to be intoxicated with the strong smell of alcohol, red watery eyes and unable to stand on his own.

Alcantara was questioned but was incoherent. He was arrested for DUI and taken to Doctors Medical Center for an evidentiary blood draw. He was then booked into the Stanislaus County Jail without incident.
