Benito Campos, 36, of Riverbank, was arrested by Ceres Police early Tuesday, Aug. 28 for drug possession after he drew the suspicions of residents in 1700 block of Gene Road.

Police were called at 1:40 a.m. by a citizen who got into a verbal spat with Campos, who was sitting in the area in a blue Chevrolet Silverado for some time with headlights on. Campos said he would be back tomorrow to “shoot someone” and began circling the area.

Sgt. Vince Hooper was on Richland Avenue when a truck matching the description drove by. Hooper stopped Campos since the driver description matched. Methamphetamine and heroin was seen in plain view near Campos’ seat. After Campos was positively identified by the reporting party, they declined prosecution regarding the threat. Campos was arrested and booked on the drug charges.
