A vehicle code violation led to a Ceres Police officer pulling over a Merced driver on Saturday afternoon and making an arrest for drunken driving.

At 5:15 p.m., Officer Jon Blount stopped a red Pontiac Vibe in the area of Service and Moffett roads but learned that 45-year-old driver Fortino Molina Nunes appeared to be intoxicated. Officer Blount administered a field sobriety test on Nunes and asked him to breathe into a breathalyzer which showed that he had a blood alcohol content almost double the legal limit to drive a vehicle. Nunes was booked for DUI into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
