A 35-year-old Riverbank driver was arrested in Ceres early Saturday morning after another driver saw him swerving on the road, believed him to be drunk and called 9-1-1.

Officer Kevin Sakasegawa was dispatched to the area of Third and Magnolia Street for a 12:34 a.m. report of a possible drunken driver in a gray-colored 2007 Chevrolet Impala. The caller was following Rudy Roberts down Whitmore Avenue from Moffett Road. Officer Jon Vera got behind the vehicle and stopped Roberts in the parking lot the Latino’s Bar, 2142 Mitchell Road.

Officer Sakasegawa noticed Roberts appeared to be intoxicated and had Roberts perform field sobriety tests to determine if he was okay to drive. Roberts denied drinking any alcohol and submitted to the test.

Based on the performance of the field sobriety test and the symptoms Roberts was placed under arrest for DUI. Roberts said he wanted to take the breath test and the results were 0.16 percent blood alcohol content, double the legal limit.

Roberts was transported and booked into the Public Safety Center for misdemeanor DUI.
