A 36-year-old man who had an eight-year-old child in his car when he allegedly drove while intoxicated into a light pole at Hatch and Mitchell roads, was arrested by Ceres Police on Sunday afternoon.

At 2:44 p.m., Officer Kiashira Ruiz found a gray Ford Ranger that collided with the pole and noticed that Richard Belde appeared to be quite intoxicated. Following a DUI investigation and Belden was arrested for DUI. A breath test showed that he had over four times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

Belden was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center where he faces charges of DUI and child endangerment.
