Expired registration leads to drug arrest of Turlock man

A 50-year-old Turlock man was arrested on drug charges Thursday morning after he was pulled over in Ceres for having expired registration on his vehicle.

William Coelho was stopped on Service Road near Mitchell Road at 4:09 a.m. by Officer Eric Gallegos. Coelho had no driver’s license and is on searchable probation. He admitted to having methamphetamine in his backpack inside the vehicle so it was searched. Officers found just under two ounces of suspected methamphetamine and under three ounces of marijuana as well as a digital scale, three cell phones and nearly $1,000 in cash.

Coelho was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for sale and felony probation violations.
