A Hayward man was arrested in Ceres on Friday evening after police learned the car he was riding in was stolen from the Bay Area. Officers also found drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the car.

The arrest came at 6:40 p.m. when Officer Eric Souza spotted the stolen black Honda Civic traveling northbound on Malik Avenue near Aristocrat Drive.

The Honda pulled into the Dollar General parking lot at 940 E. Whitmore Avenue where driver Michael Barrozo, 57, of Hayward and his two teenage daughters were ordered out of the car.

During a search, two hypodermic needles were located in Barrozo’s pocket. A glass methamphetamine pipe was found in the center console.

While he was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, jail deputies found Barrozo was carrying a plastic baggie containing suspected tar heroin.

Barrozo was booked for grand theft auto, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, bringing controlled substances into a jail, driving on a suspended license and probation violations.
