Modesto man arrested at Walmart for brandishing knife at employees escorting him out

A 56-year-old man from Modesto was arrested by Ceres Police on the evening of Tuesday, August 30 for allegedly brandishing a knife at Walmart Supercenter employees after telling him to leave the store due to prior thefts.

Police were called by the store at 9:42 p.m. after Gabriel Cortez, 56, produced a knife as he was being escorted from the store. 

Officers later located Cortez who was positively identified by employees.

Cortez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of brandishing a deadly weapon, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.
