Matthew Tanner
Matthew Tanner

A 30-year-old Modesto man who decided to run from Ceres Police during a traffic stop ended up crashing into a fence Saturday night and was jailed after he was treated at a local hospital.

At 7:55 p.m., Officer Aaron Pinon was eastbound on River Road at Central Avenue following a black Yamaha motorcycle that accelerated and made an illegal pass of a vehicle in front of him. When Officer Pinon initiated a traffic stop, rider Matthew Tanner fled. At the end of the short pursuit, Tanner lost control and crashed into a fence in the 2800 block of River Road and fell to the ground.

Tanner was arrested for evading a police officer without regard for the public. He was found to be on probation and arrested for probation violations as well. Tanner was medically treated at a local area hospital before being booked into Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
