A high-speed police chase of a motorcyclist early Saturday resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old Hilmar man.

At 1:08 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza attempted to stop Brad Denys on his Kawasaki motorcycle at Whitmore Avenue and Crowslanding Road for equipment violations. Instead of pulling over, Denys accelerated southbound on Crowslanding Road and led Officer Souza on a pursuit toward Newman. As the motorcycle reached speeds of 100 mph near River Road, it experienced mechanical issues which forced Denys to pull over. Denys was arrested and charged with evading a peace officer by vehicle, evading a peace officer in the wrong lanes of traffic, and violating probation.
