A 33-year-old Ceres man who was on parole is believed to have been trespassing in someone's backyard and drinking beer before he was arrested on Sunday morning.

At 12:07 a.m. a resident of the 900 block of Stone Spring Drive called 911 to report someone in the backyard. As officers were en route, the caller reported someone possibly on the roof. The responding officer spotted a person walking away from the location and stopped Aaron Gayle.

Meanwhile, another resident found his side gate kicked in and beer cans lying near his fence. Police compared the footprints on the ground to the same shoe pattern as Gayle's and arrested him for violating the terms of his parole, public intoxication and vandalism to the fence.

Police Lt. Brent Smith said that Gayle had an ankle monitor and was registered as a sex offender.
