An Arkansas parolee was arrested on Monday, Sept. 3 after he ran from an officer who spotted him pulling a stolen car into the Chevron station at Herndon and Hatch roads.

Officer Eric Souza spotted the stolen Ford pickup at 5:26 a.m. while on patrol on northbound Herndon Road and followed it into the gas station parking lot after learning it was reported as stolen.

Souza attempted to stop the driver, Larry Moore, 45, of Little Rock, Ark., but he fled on foot. Officer Souza gave chase, following Moore southbound through the parking lots of Denny’s and Hot Rod Diner. Moore ignored commands to stop and warned him that a police canine was on the way. Moore ran eastbound across Herndon Road through a dirt field and jumped the rear fence of a residence in the 1400 block of Grandview Avenue. Officer Jesus Salinas arrived with canine Veko along with additional officers who set up a perimeter for a yard-to-yard search.

Moore was found hiding under an empty above ground pool and refused commands to come out for Veko was sent in to apprehend Moore. After a brief struggle with Veko and his handler, Moore was detained in handcuffs.

Moore was booked for a multitude of charges, including auto theft.
