Ceres Police arrested a 24-year-old convicted felon for brandishing a gun from a car on Thursday afternoon.

At 12:12 p.m., Officer Christian Izquierdo took a report of a man in a blue-colored Chevy Monte Carlo who was pointing a firearm at a home in the area of Morgan Road and Whitmore Avenue. He searched the area and found a blue Monte Carlo in the area of Morgan Road and Rockefeller Drive and attempted to pull over the vehicle. At first the car was driven into an alley near the area of Nelson Road and Morgan Road as Officer Izquierdo attempted to get the driver to stop by activating emergency lights.

As the driver finally stopped the car, passenger Luis Jimenez, 24, of Modesto ran from the car while reaching for his waistband. Jimenez was later found hiding and a firearm was found on the path he ran.

Jimenez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a loaded firearm, intimidating a witness/victim, and obstructing a peace officer.
