A 22-year-old Ceres man was arrested Friday evening after an officer spotted him running a red light at Hatch and Moffett roads, and led the officer on a pursuit.

Officer Charles Rushing was on patrol at 9:57 p.m. when he saw a silver-colored Chevy Camaro gun through the red light. When Officer Rushing tried to stop driver Cristian Salas, 22, of Ceres, he sped off and went into the opposite lanes through the intersection of Hatch Road and Central Avenue. Salas then pulled into the Mister’s Car Wash parking lot at Hatch Rd and Richland Avenue where he was taken into custody during a high-risk vehicle stop.

A search of the vehicle yielded suspected narcotics along with a loaded firearm.

Salas was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading a peace officer recklessly in a vehicle, driving the wrong way during a pursuit, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, and transporting a controlled substance.
