Shoplifter jailed on warrant

Cost Less Foods declined to prosecute a May 18 petty theft alleged to have taken place at their Hatch Road store but police ended up taking the suspect to jail because he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.

At 7:11 p.m., Officer Jeremy Caron was sent to Cost Less Foods regarding a shoplifter in custody for theft. Ramen Kumar 30 of Ceres was accused of stealing food but the store declined to seek prosecution.

Kumar was then arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the warrant.
