A 47-year-old Manteca man who was speeding down Crowslanding Road Wednesday afternoon, March 16 and flagged the attention of a Ceres Police officer was arrested for auto theft.
At 3:57 p.m. Officer Charles Rushing noticed the speeding green Honda Civic and caught up to it at a red light at Crowslanding Road and Whitmore Avenue. A check with the Department of Motor Vehicles revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Manteca. Officer Rushing conducted a high-risk traffic stop as the driver turned onto Flamingo Drive. Driver Julio Hernandez, 47, of Modesto was detained and arrested.
Hernandez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property and violation of felony probation.
