Three jailed on theft charges

Three Ceres men were arrested for theft after the owner of power tools stored in the back of a pickup interrupted the attempted theft and was seen fighting the suspects.

The theft attempt was discovered when a Ceres Police officer was patrolling past 1702 Herndon Road at 8:41 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 and spotted several males fighting on Westview Drive. He detained them and learned that a victim saw three men stealing power tools out of the bed of his truck and chased them down. Upon searching the suspects' vehicle the officer located the stolen tools as well as drug paraphernalia and ammunition.

Arrested for the grand theft, conspiracy to commit grand theft and possession of a controlled substance were Joseph Kruger, 30, Cody Bates, 23, and Thomas Pack, 21, all of Ceres.

Kruger and Bates face additional charges of violating the terms of their probation while Pack is accused of his parole violation.
