Two Ceres drivers are facing charges of suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving after allegedly racing one another on southbound Highway 99 in Turlock and were involved in an accident that killed a third-party driver.

The early Sunday morning crash resulted in the death of Jakob Burns, 25, of Salida. Burns was made a lane change from the slow lane to the middle lane when he was struck by an Acura driven at a high rate of speed by Gerardo Ochoa, 19, of Ceres. The California Highway Patrol said Ochoa was suspected of being intoxicated and racing a Honda driven by Manuel Morales, Jr., 19, of Ceres. After colliding with Burns' vehicle, the Acura hit the Honda.

Ochoa was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Morales is being charged with suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving.

Burns was reportedly on his way to work when the crash occurred.
