A 39-year-old homeless woman from Turlock was arrested Wednesday morning after she refused to leave a Ceres business after repeated requests to do so.

Officer Brian Chandler was dispatched at 10:28 a.m. to La Perla Tapatia at 1460 Mitchell Road where Shawna Hellberg, 39, of Turlock, was walking around in front of the business despite the manager asking her to leave. The officer made contact with Hellberg who was instantly irate and yelling at him. Officer Chandler spent several minutes getting her to calm herself. The manager told Officer Chandler that it has been an ongoing problem with Hellberg and others sleeping in front of the business doors at night and intimidating customers when the business is open by aggressively panhandling.

The manager said he had asked Hellberg to leave his business on several occasions however she refuses and screams at him. The manager wanted Hellberg arrested for trespassing and signed a citizen arrest form.

Officer Chandler arrested Hellberg and booked her for trespassing.
