Ceres Police averted a potential for disaster Friday evening when they arrested a 47-year-old Ceres woman who had allegedly made threats and was in possession of Molotov cocktails inside her apartment.
Molotov cocktails are improvised incendiary devices, typically a bottle filled with a flammable liquid with a fuse that is lit and thrown to explode.
Police received calls at 7:40 p.m. about 47-year-old Katrina Moya making threats in the Casa Grande Village Apartments complex in the 3100 block of Whitmore Avenue. Officers went to the Moya’s unit and detected the smell of gasoline when she opened the door. Police evacuated neighboring units, some of which were occupied by children. Officers located several Molotov cocktails made and gas cans inside the apartment.
Moya was arrested for possession of the Molotov cocktails and child endangerment and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
