A 34-year-old Delhi woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 10 after she caused a four-car chain-reaction crash on Mitchell Road just north of Whitmore Avenue.

Officer Jerry Kessler happened upon the 12:35 p.m. traffic collision and determined that Rachel Mourer, 34, of Delhi, rear-ended a line-up of southbound cars stopped for a red signal light. Mourer’s blue Subaru Forester caused a chain-reaction crash, pushing vehicles into each other.

Mourer claimed that she was distracting when sending a text when she hit the car in front of her. However, Officer Kessler noted the odor of alcohol and other signs of impairment. Officer Kao Saechao completed a DUI investigation and arrested her for DUI. A breath test showed that Mourer’s blood alcohol content was over three times the legal limit.
