Deputies participate in alcohol buy sting operation

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department conducted an alcohol buy sting operation on Saturday and arrested five persons for willing to buy alcoholic beverages for minors used as decoy.

These five were arrested released on a citation to appear in Stanislaus County Superior Court.

The operation decoys made 37 attempts over six hours at four retailers to purchase alcoholic beverages from people outside these businesses. It is a misdemeanor to furnish alcoholic beverages to minors and any persons observed furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors are subject to arrest pursuant to the Business & Profession Code.

The statewide "shoulder tap" operation was paid for by a grant from the California State Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) participated in a state wide ABC "Shoulder Tap"
