Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies are trying to piece together clues to make an arrest in a Thursday evening stabbing death at the Budget Motel located at 581 S. Ninth Street in south Modesto.

According to a press release sent out by the department, there is no suspect information but it's still early in the investigation and detectives are processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses.

Someone called 911 at approximately 6:45 p.m. to report finding a man who had been stabbed. The victim was transported to the emergency room where he later died.

Anyone with information on the fatal stabbing may leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Tipsters can also e-mail tips at http://www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing "Tip704" plus the message and be eligible for a cash reward.
