Two Ceres Police officers were injured when a 24-year-old intoxicated man fought them during his arrest early Tuesday, May 4.

At 1:01 a.m., Officers Charles Rushing, Aaron Pinon and Johnathan Blount were dispatched to the 1200 block of Moonlight Drive for a domestic disturbance call. Blount and Pinon were the first to arrive and encountered Jairo Camposmontelongo who was near the street  yelling at a woman, blaming her for the police being there, even though he was the one who initially 9-1-1. Jairo was agitated and refused to calm down and said he was going to assault officers if they tried to arrest him.

When he tried to return to the house still agitated, officers felt it wouldn’t be safe allowing him to go back into the house due to his intoxication. Blount attempted to arrest him but a struggled ensued. During the arrest Rushing and Blount were injured and later treated at a local hospital. The suspect was also injured and treated for injuries before being booked into jail on charges of battery on a police officer, public intoxication and obstructing and resisting an officer.
