A passenger who was asleep inside of a car parked at the Ceres Walmart was found to be wanted on a warrant and went to jail Friday morning.

At 8:09 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Godfrey was patrolling the parking lot and went to check on a man who was slumped over the wheel of a 2001 PT Cruiser. The man and sleeping passenger Melvin Freeman, 61, of Modesto stated they were sleeping in the vehicle overnight and were fine but a background check found Freeman had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the warrant.
