crime-scene-tape

A man sustained a fatal gunshot wound during an apparent home invasion robbery Tuesday morning in the 2600 block of Gondring Road outside of Ceres.

Killed in the 6 a.m. shooting was 22-year-old Christian Sanchez.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department would not clarify if Sanchez was a resident or an intruder.

The home occupants told Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies that “unknown subjects” were inside their home, a discovery made when they were awakened by a “loud commotion,” said a department press release. Sanchez was shot once. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and began life-saving measures and he was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

After the shot was fired the intruders left the house.

The occupants of the home were unable to give deputies any suspect descriptions or any vehicle that they may have fled in.

No other details were provided.

Anyone with information on the crime may be reported to Detective Espinoza of the department’s Major Crimes Unit at (209) 567-4466. Tips may also be phoned into Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 or www.stancrimetips.org.
