Man who took cell phone booked for warrants
Ceres Cop Car

Andres Rodriguez, 37, of Ceres, was arrested Thursday for two outstanding warrants after he was tracked down after allegedly stealing a cell phone from someone's garage.

A person who saw Rodriguez take the phone followed him to the Rite Aid store at Fowler and Mitchell roads and called 911. Officer Eric Souza was told a person picked up Rodriguez and drove him to 1647 Molly Lane. But when the address was checked, Souza and other officers didn't find him. When Souza went back at 1:49 p.m. he found the suspect in front yard and recognized him from the description.

The cell phone was returned to its owner who decided against pressing charges so Rodriguez was booked for the outstanding warrants.
