Ceres Police have arrested an 18-year-old Ceres man on the charges that he both possessed and distributed child pornography.
Victor Luis McDaniel was the subject of an extensive investigation by Ceres detectives.
McDaniel faces charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as child pornography.
The investigation began after the department received a CyberTip from an online data monitoring system that tracks potential cases involving the distribution of child sexual exploitation material. Acting on this tip, detectives launched an investigation that led them to a home in the 3600 block of Tamarack Avenue in Ceres. A search warrant was executed, resulting in the seizure of digital evidence and the arrest of McDaniel.
He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Thus far in the investigation, no evidence indicates that the material involves local minors. However, detectives urge anyone who may have information related to this case or potential victims to contact Detective Vera at 209-538-5730.
“This case serves as a serious reminder to parents and guardians about the importance of monitoring their children’s online activity and implementing appropriate safety and privacy controls on internet-enabled devices,” said Ceres Police Lt. Jeff Godfrey.
