Police find meth on driver of stolen pickup

A Ceres man who was caught driving a stolen car Sunday afternoon was also found with methamphetamine.

At 3:07 p.m. Ceres Police Officer Nicolas Welsh watched a Chevrolet S-10 pickup run a stop sign at the Roeding Road and Tenth Street. Officer Welsh caught up to the truck as it traveled southbound on Tenth Street and activated his emergency lights. The driver, Raul Castro, 47, of Ceres, pulled over, got out and began to walk off. Officer Welsh told Castro that he was not free to leave. After the dispatcher advised Officer Welsh that the vehicle had been stolen in Sonora, Officer Welsh handcuffed Castro. During a search of the pickup, Officer Welsh located a glass methamphetamine pipe and several plastic bindles containing methamphetamine. 

Castro was booked into jail and faces charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
