Turlock man arrested for breaking windows in Ceres

Ceres Police apprehended Andres Zapata, 50, of Turlock, after he allegedly threw rocks into glass windows in the area of Third Street and North Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 25.

Witnesses saw Zapata breaking the windows of various buildings and called police at 1:59 p.m. Officer Aaron Pinon arrived and began looking for the suspect. Meanwhile, calls continued to pour in regarding the vandal as he walked towards the east side of Ceres. Officer Pinon located Zapata walking on Standford Avenue near El Dorado Street. The suspect was belligerent and uncooperative, refused to identify himself and began to spit at the officer. Officer Pinon arrested Zapata with assistance from other officers.

Witnesses identified Zapata as the man responsible for breaking several windows. He faces charges of felony vandalism.
