Two arrested in vehicle theft

Two men were arrested Wednesday morning, Oct. 14 in Colony Park Estates Mobile Home Park at 3939 Central Avenue after they were tracked in a stolen vehicle.

At 10:25 a.m. Ceres Police were advised by Turlock Police that a stolen SUV was tracked by lo-jack as it was traveling in the area of Highway 99 and Mitchell Road. The vehicle's signal indicated that the car ended up at Colony Park Estates Mobilehome Park. Members of the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force (StanCATT) also rolled to the scene and approached two men who were near the SUV. When they spotted the officers they took off running.

David Watson, 39, of Ceres, was immediately caught. The other suspect, Travis McCullough, 40, of Ceres, jumped over a fence to Bavil Drive where he was intercepted by Officer Pat Dayton.

Watson was found to have ignition in his pocket.

Both men were charged with auto theft and possession of stolen property.

Watson also had warrants for his arrest.
